When the Picture Doesn’t Turn Out
When the Picture Doesn’t Turn Out
Lord,
Thank You for moments that don’t go as planned…
like that silly photo we tried so hard to get in the middle of the road at the Grand Canyon.
I had a vision, an idea in my head of what it would look like,
and the reality… well, it looked nothing like that.
There were cars honking, we were laughing, struggling to time it just right…
and the result? Not what I planned.
But somehow, it’s perfect.
Because it captured the heart behind it:
Michael trying so hard to make it happen just for me,
the joy, the patience, the love,
the memory we made in the middle of the chaos.
Isn’t that just like life?
We dream. We plan. We picture a future.
And then… it shifts.
Sometimes subtly. Sometimes all at once.
But what I don’t want to miss, God,
is You in the middle of it.
You…gently rerouting.
You…whispering reminders that love was the point all along.
You…teaching me that while the photo may not be perfect,
the memory, the moment, the lesson… it’s everything.
So help me, Lord, to see joy in the misfires.
To laugh more, to try the silly photo,
to live outside the comfort zone and not take everything so seriously.
Help me to rest (really rest) in what You’re doing,
even when it doesn’t look like what I thought You’d do.
Because even when the picture doesn’t turn out,
You are still faithful.
You are still good.
And I am still so very, overwhelmingly blessed.
Thank You for Michael.
Thank You that I got to love and be loved like that.
And thank You that You’re not done with my story yet.
You’re still creating beauty in unexpected frames.
Amen.
